  • Shopify and Amazon announce app to bring Prime benefits to Shopify stores
  • Introduces Amazon Pay as a payment option for Shopify Payments

Shopify and Amazon, two of the biggest ecommerce giants, have teamed up to bring Buy with Prime to Shopify merchants. For the first time, Shopify – our top-rated ecommerce website builder – will allow business owners to offer their products to Prime members.

The integration will give US-based merchants the option to add Buy with Prime to their Shopify Checkout, but only if they use Amazon’s fulfillment network.

The rivals have shocked the industry with the announcement, especially since Buy with Prime was originally launched back in 2022 to curb the success of Shopify! Following the news, Shopify’s stock increased by 10%, while Amazon’s saw a 2% boost, signaling a positive outlook on the blossoming relationship between the titans.

More Choice, More Success

The purpose of bringing Buy with Prime to Shopify is to give Shopify merchants access to Prime members while Prime members get more choices when shopping with their favorite Shopify brands.

Shopify wants to make sure merchants can sell everywhere, connecting with customers across a wide range of channels.

As Shopify President Harley Finkelstein said during the announcement:

“This will give customers more flexibility in how they make their purchases from the independent brands they know, love, and trust.”

With the app, customers can enjoy the benefits of Prime, meaning fast and free delivery, as well as an easy returns process. A smoother checkout experience is a great way to increase sales and improve customer satisfaction. Outside of Shopify, Buy with Prime has increased shopper conversion rates by 25% – Shopify stores can now tap into this success.

Peter Larsen, Amazon’s Vice President of Buy with Prime, spoke about the app’s perks and how Amazon is “excited to help merchants not only grow their businesses, but also save time and resources – all while giving Prime members even more places to enjoy their shopping benefits.”

How To Add Buy with Prime to Your Store

Once available, US-based merchants using Amazon’s fulfillment network will be able to connect the app to their online stores. After installing, simply add the items you want to your Buy with Prime product catalog.

From there, the integration will appear as an option within Shopify Checkout, with orders being processed by Shopify Payments. Amazon Pay will also be offered as a new payment provider within Shopify Payments as a result of this collaboration, bringing even further choice to customers.

Shopify merchants will continue to keep control over their business, customer data, products, orders, and taxes – everything can be managed from the Shopify dashboard.

Shopify and Amazon’s Buy with Prime feature hasn’t launched yet, but will soon become available in Shopify’s impressive app market.
